SEYMOUR GOES SOLAR 🌞

IFPC is delighted to announce the successful installation of a new solar photovoltaic (PV) system at Seymour Field Pavilion, marking the completion of the first phase of its Community Energy Project and an important step towards a more sustainable future for the parish.

To celebrate this milestone, representatives from Brentwood Borough Council and members of the Parish Council gathered at Seymour Pavilion for a small ceremony.

The first phase has been jointly funded by IFPC and Brentwood Borough Council, with Brentwood match-funding the parish council’s contribution.

The installation follows a long-standing ambition of the parish council to introduce community renewable energy, with detailed work on the project commencing in 2025 when Seymour Pavilion was identified as an ideal demonstration site.

As well as generating clean, renewable electricity, the new system is expected to significantly reduce the Pavilion’s energy costs and is forecast to pay for itself in around 6 years, delivering long-term financial as well as environmental benefits for the parish.

Councillor Paul Jeater, Chairman of Ingatestone & Fryerning Parish Council, said:

“I am delighted to officially mark the completion of what we hope will be the first community energy generation system serving Ingatestone, Fryerning and the surrounding area. This demonstrates our commitment to investing in sustainable energy and reducing the environmental impact of our community facilities.

This is only the beginning. Our next step is to establish a Community Energy Group to explore how solar power and other renewable technologies can benefit our wider community. We hope this first phase will inspire further local initiatives that reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future. The parish council is extremely grateful for Brentwood Borough Council’s support in helping make this first phase possible.”

Councillor David Worsfold, Chair of the Clean and Green Committee at Brentwood Borough Council, said: “Brentwood Borough Council is proud to support projects such as this that help our communities take practical action to reduce carbon emissions and improve sustainability. The successful installation of solar panels at Seymour Field Pavilion is a fantastic example of how local councils can work together to invest in renewable energy, reduce running costs and create long-term benefits for residents. We look forward to seeing the Community Energy Project continue to develop and inspire similar initiatives across the borough.”

The success of this first phase will now help launch a Community Energy Group to explore other opportunities across the parish. If you’re interested in renewable energy, sustainability, or simply want to help make a difference locally, we’d love to hear from you.
