After a slowdown in work because of the winter weather, refurbishment work has resumed with vigour and the inside is nearly finished, with painting and finalising of the electrical works now in hand. Ongoing work to repair the outside plinths to their former condition and drainage & bollard installation to protect the wall adjacent to the car park is now evident. Other works to improve the exterior of the cottage are being planned with the recent funding from the Railway Heritage Trust.
Planning the Museum’s interior is progressing, with orders placed or in progress for fixtures, fittings and furniture. Funding for the Museum’s alarm system, a key element enabling us to open the Museum, has recently been secured and will be installed once the interior work is complete.
The Ingatestone Museum Trust welcomes any help from the community. One skill we are looking for is an experienced calligrapher who is willing to help us develop a book of acknowledgements to those who have helped us, both financially and with their services.
