Two major housing proposals are currently raising concerns for Ingatestone and Fryerning, particularly regarding their potential impact on the village and whether the policies in our adopted Neighbourhood Plan are being given sufficient consideration.

Application 26/00224/OUT proposes up to 32 homes on land opposite Seymour Field, to the south-east of the High Street and north of Docklands Avenue. At the time of writing this article, the application had been withdrawn from Brentwood Borough Council’s planning agenda while further reports and objections are considered.

For application 26/00769/OUT, proposing up to 216 homes behind Woodfield Cottages, councillors agreed to object at the Planning & Highways Committee meeting on 22 October. IFPC is also seeking an extension from Brentwood Borough Council to allow sufficient time to prepare its response.

At a subsequent Extraordinary Full Council meeting on the same day, councillors approved funding for an independent planning consultant to review both applications. For the 216-home proposal, the consultant will carry out a detailed assessment, including a site visit, with the resulting report forming the basis of the prish council’s objection. For the 32-home proposal, the consultant will review existing documents, identify any gaps and recommend whether further evidence or a report should be submitted. The parish council hopes this work will help ensure that our Neighbourhood Plan and the interests of our community are properly represented. Updates will be shared on our website and social media channels.
