A few years ago, the parish council produced a Neighbourhood Plan that was adopted following a referendum by our residents in August 2022 (you can find it here).

Since that date, the Local Planning Authority – Brentwood Borough Council – has had to take account of its policies when determining planning applications.

The National Planning Policy Framework (December 2024) sets out the government’s planning policies for England and how these are expected to be applied. This revision has taken place since Brentwood produced its Local Development Plan, and IFPC produced the Neighbourhood Plan. It is therefore important that both planning documents take account of the changes.

IFPC established a Neighbourhood Plan Implementation Committee to ensure the policies adopted remain relevant to the community’s evolving priorities which has led to the current revision. There are 3 types of modification which can be made to a Neighbourhood Plan. The process will depend on the degree of change which the modification involves. IFPC will be submitting the revisions to Brentwood after the Full Council meeting in July under the ‘Minor Review’ category, as the plan will not change the policies, but will update the text as tasks have been achieved and errors in the text corrected.
