THE INGATESTONE AND FRYERNING NURSING TRUST
Prior to the formation of the NHS in 1948, health provision was provided by local nursing associations. The organisers were responsible for employing district nurses, paying their salaries and providing them with housing and equipment. The local district nurse for lngatestone and Fryerning lived in Sidgwick Cottage on Fryerning Lane. However, after much deliberation Essex County Council and the Charity Commission approved the formation of a trust to be known as the lngatestone and Fryerning Nursing Trust in 1951. The trust still exists today.
The Nursing Trust’s aim and purpose is to offer financial help to Ingatestone and Fryerning residents of any age during times of illness, injury, infirmity or disability. Help is not long term but could be used for the cost of extra heating, home help services, transport costs or emergency alarms. It can also be used for one-off expenditure on mobility and daily living aids.
There are currently limited funds available to further the Trust’s aims of helping those in need and eligible based on the Trust’s criteria for funding. Please do not hesitate to contact the Trust for more information or if you believe you may be eligible for funding.
Most recently the Trust made a donation to the Charles Cox Trust. The Charles Cox Trust aims to provide funding for youth activities and education for young people in Ingatestone and Fryerning. The Ingatestone and Fryerning Nursing Trust’s donation partly funded seven children, including two with special needs, to attend a Year 5 trip to Norfolk lakes and also aided 3 children to attend a Year 6 residential trip to France.
