As a part of the work for the Neighbourhood Plan we have been discovering all the times new pieces of information about our community. It is fundamental that we understand the residents of the parish and what you would like to see.

Because ultimately YOU decide whether the Neighbourhood Plan is put into place.

In this series, we will be discussing the information we have learnt from the evidence gathering phase and maybe some of the information will surprise you about your community.

     Our Resident to household ratio

1) Ingatestone and Fryerning have a total of 4,758 people living in 2,095 households in the parish boundary.

The population in the parish continues to rise from the 4,504 (Census 2011)

This provides our community the chance to grow and expand providing more facilities, growing local businesses and more opportunities to meet the local housing demands.

2) Ingatestone and Fryerning have 770 children under the age of 16.

This figure is in fact lower than the national average for a parish of this size. However, in the Neighbourhood Plan we hope to encourage more younger families to live in the community by providing further community facilities for children of all age groups

3)  Ingatestone and Fryerning have 1,220 people over the age of 65.

This figure is 10% higher than the national average for people aged over 65. Health and Well being becomes all the more important as you get older and the Neighbourhood Plan will have policy in place to continue to improve health care provision and facilities in the parish

4) Ingatestone and Fryerning have 2,795 adults of working age.

This figure is lower than the current UK national average.

5) Ingatestone and Fryerning have 85 lone parent families

This figure is lower than the current UK national average.

6) Ingatestone and Fryerning has 355 single pensioner households

This figure is higher than the current UK national average. We hope to encourage more community groups focusing on socialising and combating the potential effects of social isolation as a part of the Neighbourhood Plan.

Our parish holds a wealth of different backgrounds and is diverse in our age range. We want to hear from school children to pensioners and all that comes in between. Let us know how we can positively impact our area by putting strong legislation in place.
