On Friday 24 October, IFPC were delighted to attend a special ceremonial opening of the new Ingatestone Museum, located in the historic Gatekeeper’s Cottage beside Ingatestone Station.
This project is very important to us, and we’re really pleased it has finally come together after so much effort and dedication from everyone involved. Restoring one of the oldest surviving railway gatekeeper’s cottages in the UK is not just about preserving a building – it’s about celebrating the history and charm of our lovely village.
It was great to hear from Graham Orchard, Chairman of the Ingatestone Museum Trust; Mayor of Brentwood, Cllr Jay Laplain; IFPC Chair, Cllr Paul Jeater; Brentwood and Ongar MP Alex Burghart, and others. Lord Petre, Patron of the Ingatestone Museum, unveiled the plaque and officially opened the building.
While there’s still more work to be done, and improvements will continue, the Museum welcomed visitors on 25 October. Residents came along between 11am and 4pm to explore the local history and discover the story of the Gatekeeper’s Cottage
