In February, the Rotary Club of Ingatestone celebrate Rotary Day, reflecting on a project from over 15 years ago. Back in October 2010, the club planted over 5,000 purple crocus bulbs across the village as part of the ‘Focus on the Crocus’ campaign, symbolising the fight against polio.
Did you know the story behind the purple crocuses in front of the church? These flowers, along with others planted in key locations such as near the Ingatestone signs, in front of Ingleton House on Stock Lane, and at the triangle at the top of Fryerning Lane, serve as a reminder of Rotary’s commitment to eradicating polio worldwide.
