IFPC are delighted to announce the installation of a new blue plaque at 98 High Street, commemorating Daniel Sutton, a pioneer of smallpox inoculation who practised in Ingatestone in the 1760s.

Sutton is believed to have lived and worked in several High Street properties, including Brandiston House, and ran at least two inoculation houses at Mill Green. His contributions to medical history are a significant part of our local heritage.

This project was initiated and led by Cllr Darryl Sankey, with funding kindly provided by the Ingatestone & Fryerning Historical & Archaeological Society.
