Essex County Council have published their proposal to reorganise the 15 councils across Greater Essex into three new councils – North, Mid, and South Essex – designed around communities, local economies and the services residents rely on.
Why? To simplify services, cut duplication, and deliver better value for residents across the county. The idea is to have councils that are:
– big enough to deliver essential services well.
– local enough to stay connected to you and your neighbourhood.
– clearer in how decisions are made and who’s accountable to you.
ECC’s proposal is based on months of research, analysis and conversations with partners, and a clear ambition to empower communities and drive economic growth.
