Brentwood Borough Council and the Brentwood Gazette newspaper are running a “Beautiful Brentwood” photography competition). There are two age groups – under 16 and Adult (i.e. over 16). The winner in each group will receive £100 with a further £100 donated, on their behalf,  to the Mayor of Brentwood’s charity of the year.

Chief Executive Philip Ruck said: “We are looking for pictures that capture what Brentwood means to you. Whatever inspires you to take a photograph, we want to see it. Carol’s photo of Shenfield Common is so evocative, capturing what is a familiar location but the reflections in the water give the photograph a completely unique almost haunting quality. With so many wonderful areas in the borough I thought this was an ideal photograph with which to launch a competition and get all our residents across the generations involved.”

The competition will run through the school holidays until the Bank Holiday Monday August 28 with selected photographs published weekly in the Brentwood Gazette, Brentwood Borough Council Facebook and Twitter pages.

The winners will be selected by the Mayor of Brentwood, Cllr Will Russell and announced on September 6th online and in the Brentwood Gazette newspaper.

Photos should be sent to press.desk@brentwood.gov.uk – please include your name, age, address, contact number and a few words on why you were inspired to take the photo.

Please note that by entering the competition you are allowing Brentwood Borough Council copyright for its use of the image.
