INGATESTONE AND FRYERNING PARISH COUNCIL

History – Ingatestone and Fryerning Parish Council was formed in 1895, following the passing of the Local Government Act in 1894.  Since that time, there have been 13 Chairman, who have led the council for varying times – the longest serving being 24 years and the shortest just one year.

The current council – today’s 15 members took office in May 2007 when there was an (uncontested) election.   Their monthly meetings, which are open to the public, are usually on the first Thursday of the month at Seymour Pavilion at 7.30pm.

Council structure – Ingatestone and Fryerning Parish Council is the largest of nine parish councils within the Borough of Brentwood.  It has 3 committees, and times of their next meetings can be found by reference to their minutes posted on this web-site.

Funding – the Council’s funding comes from a discretionary grant from Brentwood Borough Council and from the Parish Precept levied on Ingatestone and Fryerning residents.  Other sources of income come from grants for specific projects, rental of sporting and other facilities, sales of merchandise and the cemetery.

Parish Office – the Parish Office, which is located at 118 High Street, is open from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm to 3.00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  It is staffed, part-time, by the Parish Clerk and two staff. (Contact)

Communications – apart from this web-site, the Council publishes a 6-monthly Newsletter, which is delivered to all householders in the parish. It also posts notices on its notice boards in Market Place and outside the village hall in Fryerning, and puts a monthly newsletter in The Towers Magazine.  In short it has a strong desire to communicate with its residents.
