NEWSLETTER – MAY 2007 PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONSThe election has taken place – it was uncontested as there were 15 nominations for 15 vacancies and so there was no vote. The new Councillors take office from 8th May and the first meeting of the new Council will be on Thursday 10th May at 7.30pm at Seymour Pavilion. The first item of business is the election of a Chairman. BLITZ ON LITTER DAY (B.O.L.D.) This annual event takes place on Saturday 12th May. It is organised by the Litter Action Group, supported by the Parish Council, and relies on volunteers giving up their morning to clear Ingatestone of litter. Please come and support this worthwhile event. You will be given all necessary equipment and instructions, and a sandwich lunch afterwards. Meet at the Community Club at 9.15am. Finishes about 12.30pm. The Litter Action Group is also looking for volunteers to monitor litter ‘hotspots’ in the village and would be pleased to hear from you if you could help. Tel: John Galvin on 01277 352841.
FRYERNING CEMETERY Some time ago, the Parish Council purchased land at Fryerning to extend the current cemetery. This land is now being prepared so that burials can begin to take place. A new hedge was been planted around the boundary and this is taking well. A map of plots is being produced and pathways are being laid and we will soon be in a position to start selling the plots. There will be plots available for burials and ashes. For further details, please contact the office.
SHOWERS AT SEYMOUR PAVILION Our showers have come to the end of their life and we have had to close them, at great inconvenience to our football teams. It has been decided that a completely new system needs to be installed, rather than trying to repair the old one, and a professional company (which carries out similar works for Essex County Council) has been brought in to produce a specification. The work will need to go out to tender and funding will need to be sought, but fortunately the football season finishes in mid-May so the showers will not be needed for a few months.
POLICE SURGERY These monthly surgeries have been running since January and are proving popular. The police will be holding their May surgery on Wednesday 9th May from 10.00-11.30am at the Parish Council office. If you want to speak to the police on any issues please come along - no appointment necessary. Use it or lose it! Telephone 01277 353315 Fax 01277 352915Email – office@ingatestone-fryerningpc.gov.uk
