INGATESTONE AND FRYERNING LITTER ACTION GROUP

  •  What is it and what is its purpose?

It is a joint initiative set up in 2003 between local residents, the Anglo European School, Brentwood Borough Council, the Parish Council and local businesses.
Its purpose is "To promote a litter free culture in Ingatestone and Fryerning and a sustainable and effective system for the removal of litter and detritus where it is found". Rather than just accepting litter as a part of modern life or blaming someone else for it, we want to TACKLE the problem from all angles.

  • How is it run?

By a committee which meets approximately every two months.

The Litter Action Group Committee

  • What are our Objectives?

The Group’s key objectives are to;

  • Develop a programme for the reduction of litter and put strategies in place to take the programme forward.

  •    Prevent litter through education, raising awareness and through social and environmental responsibility

  •    Promote all sectors of the community to help Keep Ingatestone Tidy

  •    Monitor and compile information on the cleanliness of Ingatestone and Fryerning, the effectiveness of action taken, including the provision and emptying of litter bins.

  • How does the Group communicate with residents?

There will always be an article in the Parish Newsletter, copies of minutes of our meetings are lodged with the Parish Council and from time to time we’ll issue Press Releases to local papers.

However the most recent information will be found in the Parish Council Monthly Newsletter on the Parish Council Web Site.

bulletAnd Finally

Please remember that to be effective in our aims of making the Parish a cleaner and hence more pleasant place to live, we need the support of as many people in the community as possible.

If you would like to help us by joining the LAG as a volunteer helper, please contact our secretary John Galvin on 352841 or online at john@galvinfamilyuk.plus.com

If you want to help us without formally joining the LAG, then you can do so by keeping the frontage to your house, school, shop, business, club or other property clear of litter (including car parks where applicable) and reporting flytipping, abandoned vehicles or any litter related problems to Brentwood Borough Council’s  hotline on  0800 328 6835
